A really interesting little museum housed in the old Jesuit college. Free on Sundays which was when we puttered into town. Its an eclectic museum focusing mostly on the history of Faial Island, Horta, and its geographical importance throughout history. But it also includes a mind-boggling exhibit about a local artist who sculpted impossibly detailed sculptures out of fig tree pith. Also an exhibit of haunting religious figures and sculptures. Definitely worth a visit if youve got an hour or two to spare in this beautiful city.
